Jeff Koons is an internationally well known American artist working in sculpture and painting. His works show toys, everyday objects and small trinkets. He is inspired by such artistic trends as Dadaism and pop-art. The most expensive Koons sculpture is from the Celebration Series titled “Balloon Dog” which reproduces a twisted balloon in the shape of a small dog which was sold for 58 million dollars! “Tulips Coupe Service Plate” comes from a limited edition of Koons designed porcelain tableware. Produced by the famous Bernardaud, the leading French porcelain producer, synonymous with elegance and luxury. Koons is often inspired by flowers and they are a frequent motif in his work. “I’ve always loved flowers. Since when I started to learn to draw I’ve often shown flowers, which for me are a symbol that life goes forward” – Koons says about his fascination with flowers. His most famous “Tulips” – gigantic sculptures – are permanently displayed in front of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
